Welcome to learning a little more about John.

Travel is where I discovered my passion for photography. It started when I was able to get my first digital camera way back in 2000, but it really blossomed when I was in England. I discovered the world of Canon. With a little encouragement, some reading, and the motivation of all the stuff around me, I started taking a lot of pictures. Each year has gotten me to take successively more and more photos. I work very hard to take as many good photos as I can. It is a learned skill for me, as I did not just explode into the world as a gifted artist. Thankfully with a little guidance and a lot of study I have not only started taking a higher percentage of keepers, but also understanding what went wrong in the ones I didn't like. The internet has been a wonderful tool for both inspiration and criticism to help me move my art forward.

In the last couple of years I have started migrating more into working with people. I have done several photo shoots that have allowed me to start building a more people-oriented portfolio. Hopefully moving forward I will have more time to dedicate to my artwork. I also have new inspiration and an appreciation for saving my memories. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II, and edit using a Macbook Pro.

While I am currently happy with where my world sits, the last pieces I am hoping to complete in the upcoming years are finally finishing a degree and doing some more travel. 2010 has been quite a year for me already. I have been doing a lot of traveling and been working to take and edit my photos in my downtime. I have a lot of new pictures up on the website, and I now have a taskmaster to help keep me editing on my photos. I look forward to putting more and more stuff on the web as I continue to shoot and be able to cut the photos back to a more and more amazing set.

My biggest new bit of fun this year is the macro lens and my Speedlight. There are so many more opportunities opening up thanks to these to items. It really is a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to learn a little bit about me. I hope you enjoy my work.
